they have linguistic and grammatic knowledge and accuracy, but also a good awareness and knowledge of the culture of both the source and target languages, in order to fully understand all meanings of a text and its context and transfer all aspects of the source text (linguistic, social and cultural) into the target language. Additionally, an English translator must actively remain up to date with trends and new concepts and tools in the translation sector, by continuously carrying out personal development endeavours, such as training and courses. They must also keep up to date with the languages, cultures and sectors they work with through courses, reading, cultural immersion etc. Translators must be disciplined and organised in order to meet deadlines and carry out self-revision of their own work. At times they must also carry out research into a particular field or topic related to a project they are working on in order to make the most appropriate translation choices. English TranslatorsA sworn translator not only has university qualifications in translation and interpretation, but also has completed training and assessments to be accredited by relevant legal authorities, such as the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the American Translators Association, meaning that their translations can be signed and stamped by them, rendering the translation legally valid before all relevant government and public authorities. This is necessary for the translation of any legal documents, contracts, certificates, letters etc. that are to be used for any bureaucratic processes.
